About Mary Whalen, LCSW:
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults dealing with a wide range of challenges. I believe that whatever struggle a person might be facing, engaging in therapy can help them to further explore concerns, link experiences with emotions, build stronger communication and learn healthier coping skills. As with any relationship, therapy works best when there is trust, mutual respect and a sense of connection. I will collaborate with you to identify the most effective way to draw upon your strengths and move forward towards your goals.
Utilizing an integrative approach, I combine cognitive behavioral techniques, strengths-based solution focused therapy, dialectical behavioral skills, play and family therapy. It is my goal to provide a non-judgmental space that is compassionate, collaborative, and direct in order to help you better identify opportunities for growth and gain confidence in your everyday life. One of my strengths is my ability to connect with children and teens playfully while offering parents the strategies that will bring out the best in their child and in themselves. With all ages, I have a passion for my work and acknowledge that it is a privilege to have an opportunity to work with each individual and navigate challenges together.
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to assess fit, allow you to have a sense of my approach and ask any questions before beginning the therapy process.
